Friday Funnies

Earlier in the week, I decided to quit putting off cleaning our lofted popcorn ceiling. This is not a task I enjoy. (I’m not sure I enjoy any cleaning-related tasks.) Our ceiling is 20 feet high and best accessed from the loft outside our master bedroom. The problem comes in when trying to reach the ceiling farthest from the loft; even with the handle extended as far as it will go, the duster will barely reach. But, if I was going to do this, I was going to do everything.

When I was attempting to dust the stained glass windows, the duster got caught on a hook… and came off. There it hung, in all its fuzzy blue glory, mocking me, and refusing to let go no matter how much I poked and prodded it. I decided I would just leave it there as a cautionary tale about cleaning. However, once I calmed down a bit, I decided to enlist Kenn’s help. He, of course, was able to get it down with no trouble.πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I have now ordered another duster with a 24 foot handle so I can actually stand on the floor to clean that end of the ceiling rather than tempting fate working from the loft. Where are Cinderella’s helpful woodland creatures when you need them?

  1. We used to have lofted ceilings in our townhome. Cleaning those windows required ladders. They were also right above the stairwell–so it was a super long drop if you weren’t careful. How did Kenn get it down? Sorcery?

  2. This gave me a good laugh, cleaning those hard-to-reach spots is no joke! I recently rented a dumpster to tackle a big decluttering project, and honestly, I wish I could just toss the whole ceiling in there and call it a day πŸ˜‚ Glad Kenn was able to save the day for you!!

    • The popcorn texture on the ceiling makes it so much worse! Ugh. When we updated our master bath, we covered the popcorn ceiling with bead board to match the main bath – and hide the texture. Thank goodness Kenn remains calm when I don’t, LOL.

  3. Wow, I didn’t know they made dusters with 24 foot handles. I wonder how that would work with trying to “get” a spider. I never like to get that close. πŸ™‚ I like the telescoping dusters, but mine is only about three feet long.
