We have had an extremely mild winter. Christmas day was almost 80 degrees. The next few days will be in the 40s and 50s with lows in the 20s and 30s. The poor plants are so confused.
Oh my goodness! We have two more months at least before we can hope to see this! Can the peach blossoms be far off? As I write this comment, it is 15 degrees, with a real feel of -12 and snowing (4 inches of snow already). Ugh!
This is going to be one of those years where the plants suffer due to the erratic temperatures. We should have another month before we start seeing blooms. The week of Christmas, temps were in the upper 70s. The high today will be 44 and we have a chance of snow on Sunday. The poor plants are so confused.
Oh no – yes it confuses the plants and the trees. We had a very warm April about 10 years ago and all the trees leafed out, the cherry and apple blossoms, then we had a hard freeze and the leaves got freezer burn and the crops literally died. I may have told you about the apples and cherries as they had to order cherries from Washington for the Traverse City Cherry Festival and many of the cider mills had to order applies from big apple-producing states or their biggest sales of the year would have tanked.
Spring already!?!

So striking against the leaves! The greenery has emerged here, but no stems or blooms yet.

We have a few blooms popping out. I’ve seen a few blooms on the forsythia as well.

I suspect we won’t have a very good peach crop this year. The peach trees require a certain amount of cold weather and I don’t think we’ve gotten it.

Oh, that’s a shame. The weather all across the U.S. has been erratic. Our weather forecasters have been mentioning just how cold it is down South.
