I just opened the pantry door and realized I forgot to include this item in my Bovine Chic post.🤣 I guess I see it so often, I don’t really “see” it anymore. Here’s looking at you, kids!🐮

Ally Bean at THE SPECTACLED BEAN writes an entertaining blog featuring miscellaneous topics, thought-provoking questions, and links to a variety of quizzes. One of her posts included a link to a quiz to determine your home decorating aesthetic. (I was going to link directly to the post, but I couldn’t find it. Sorry, Ally!) To no great surprise, the quiz determined that my aesthetic is Farmhouse Chic.
The rustic nature of The Cabin is one of the reasons I fell in love with it. Our first viewing of this house is my only experience of love at first sight. (Okay, maybe that’s not true. Any random kitten provokes a similar feeling.) Not long ago, I realized that I may be leaning a little heavily on the “farm” portion of Farmhouse Chic. I told Kenn, “I may owe you an apology. I seem to have decorated the whole house with cows.” (Hobby Lobby feeds into my bovine obsession.)
My love of cows traces back to my childhood. I grew up living next door to my maternal grandparents. My grandmother was a bit of a hobby farmer and always had a few cows. Growing up around cows is how I learned that the saying “Curiosity killed the cat” should actually be ” Curiosity killed the cow.” Cows are nothing if not nosy. Stand in the middle of a field of cows and it won’t be long until you’re surrounded by cows checking to see what you’re doing.
Now for a peek at my “bovine chic.”

What’s your decorating style?

When you get the stink eye from a calf…

Nyx, our black cat, is sassy and full of cattitude. I call her our “house panther with kitchen specialization” because she’s fairly aloof unless we’re in the kitchen. The kitchen is her happy place and when we are in there, she is rubbing against our ankles and vocalizing.
I adore my ceramic cow; it was a gift from my oldest sister several years ago. My cow has been been chipped and broken and glued back together. However, the thing that may do it in is the cat. Nyx periodically fixates on my poor little cow and insists on chewing on the tips of its ears. Among the many things I shouldn’t have to say to the cats, “Stop chewing on my cow!” tops the list.🙄
Most of our cats have several nicknames in addition to their real name; Nyx, however, does not. However, after her latest assault on my cow, I have decided her new nickname shall be Salty Heifer.🐄🐈⬛
We recently traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to spend a weekend celebrating the marriage of one of Kenn’s nephews. (Congratulations Alex and Mattie!🥳) Little did I know that I would also get to check off one of my lesser known Bucket List items while in Louisville. A couple of weeks before our trip Kenn told me of his plans to treat me to a Drag Brunch at Le Moo. Honestly, I wouldn’t have known such a thing as a Drag Brunch existed if Alex hadn’t sent Kenn pictures from one he attended with Mattie and her coworkers. Kenn does not understand my love of drag queens so the fact that he was not only treating me to a drag brunch but also accompanying me… if that’s not love, I don’t know what is.🥰
So now, ladies and gents, queue up Shania Twain (Let’s go girls!) and enjoy the show!

Kenn may now have flashbacks whenever he hears Cher.😂

Y’all, I had so much fun! Seriously, the whole thing was an absolute blast. It might pain him to admit it, but I think Kenn had fun too. Even if he still doesn’t understand my love of drag queens, he had fun watching me have fun. (It turned out that he was videoing me during the last part of the show and I’ve caught him watching that video several times. It makes him happy to see me happy.) He even joined me for the post-show photo with the queens.

Until next time, happy trails and have fun!

I found this gem on Twitter over a year ago; I have no idea who to credit for it but it is seriously one of the funniest things ever to me. I snort-laugh every time I come across it. It doesn’t hurt that I love cows, LOL.🐄

This is what I thought every time I saw a sign for Moosic, Pennsylvania.😂🐄 A quick internet search revealed others with my sense of humor and love of cows.
